You Shouldve Known
Daddy B: Born in Madison, WI ever since I was 6 years old playing a toy harmonica. I received at Christmas I knew I wanted to play music. Imitating the harmonica sounds of Little Stevie Wonder at age 7 I was hooked. By age 8 I received a real double sided harmonica from my grandmother's friend Mr. Jenkins. A few years later he passed away. I still have that first real harmonica today. I played that harmonica improving to all great jazz records of my parents. I grew up listening to, Sonny Rollins, Sonny Stitt, Miles Davis, Thelonius Monk, Quincy Jones, Youceff Latiff, Jr. Walker, Wes Montgomery and Ramsey Lewis to name a few. As a young boy age 9, I took up playing the guitar, I learned chords mostly but easily became board with this instrument, and I played this for 2 years until I discovered a beautiful instrument called the Saxophone. Introduced to me by Mr. Green my middle school band teacher, the rest became history. As a teen playing in Wind Ensembles, Jazz Ensemble, Orchestra, singing in the Acapella Choir, and taking Music theory help grow my improvisational skill and learning of music scripting. As a marching band drum major I learned to direct a ban and play many other instruments along the way. At age 14, I remember taking 1st place in the classical music state soloist ensemble and 2nd place in a sax quartet. By the time I was 16 I had an opportunity to play on stage with Freddy Hubbard when he played in Wisconsin. During this time I came to know the Lord and began a long spiritual Journey that would change everything. At age 17, I auditioned for Julliard.
