State of the Union
During the summer of '09 I came to the sobering conclusion that the system is rigged. Perhaps it's always been. The President doesn't run the country as I once believed. A handful of slick white guys in Manhattan and London do. As the filmmaker Michael Moore said at the end of his documentary CAPITALISM: A LOVE STORY, 'I can't do it alone.' If one person hearing this CD takes action and quoting Pete Townshend 'isn't fooled again' I will be very pleased. STATE OF THE UNION isn't the protest music of Dylan et al in the mid 60s or Woody Guthrie in an earlier depression. This is angry rock with lyrics as sharp as a razor blade. I think the photograph on the cover says it all about the current state of America. Just today I read that 1 in 7 Americans lives below the poverty line and 1 in 5 children. How can a country as rich as ours let this happen? I have a simple answer. GREED.
