Altar of Heaven
Curtis and Celi have been writing and singing together for only about 8 years. Their music and lyrics reflect God's love with an experiential basis influenced by their personal relationship as a couple, as parents and as children of God. Curtis and Celi's relationship with each other started out as an unlikely pairing: a rural southeast Colorado farm boy and an immigrant Mexican girl who began dating in college and high school. They have been married now for 18 years and have three beautiful children: Chris, 15, Keaton, 14 and Elise 12. They feel that God's grace has brought them together to do His work. As for their past experiences, Curtis has worked in education as a teacher and Principal and is currently Dean of Instruction at Lamar Community College. Celi (short for Araceli) taught languages and reading for the past 14 years at Wiley Schools and has recently resigned her position there to work in ministry. She currently works part-time in women's and children's ministries at Wiley Community Church where Celi and Curtis also serve as worship leaders. They continue to advocate education because skills and knowledge are important tools for furthering God's Kingdom. To that end, they have begun the credentialing process for ordination through the Church of God Conference, although their ministry has no denominational affiliation. They hope to continue to learn and grow in God's wisdom and share their knowledge and experiences through their speaking and music ministry. As for the future, they feel that they have been obedient to listen to God's leading and are still defining their ministry. They share a burden for young couples and families; Celi has a heart for women and children and for the Hispanic community---they hope to re-record some of the songs they've written for this album in Spanish in the near future. Curtis has a desire to inspire the body to live in relationship with God daily and be more than Sunday morning Christians. Their combined experiences as individuals and as husband and wife will no doubt guide their ministry as God defines it. They are very excited and humbled that He would use them in this way. 'God alone receives all glory and honor through our speaking and music ministry. We are so proud to show Him off through the lyrics and compilation of talents on this album. We are simply ordinary people who have decided to allow God to use us for His purposes. We pray that this ministry will be not just another music ministry, but a vehicle for reaching the lost...that the strength of our relationship with Jesus Christ, above all else, and with each other as husband and wife minister to people and couples of all ages. We believe that when you decide to place God first, above your relationship with your spouse, your family and friends 'your roots will grow down into His love and keep you strong' (Eph. 3-16).'
