Creole Songs to the Sea
Capeverdians used to look at the see with anger since that immense mass of salt water encircled them all around not allowing them to break free in search of a better future, but, on the other hand, they knew that the only way out was crossing that sea and that, perhaps one day, they would depart to build their life somewhere beyond the horizon. Not to stay indefinitely apart from their beloved motherland but to, finally triumphant, come back in the sure knowing that they would never be forced again to live the hopeless life that had tormented them for so long. This anger-love dual relationship cultivated by the Capeverdians can be devised through the Capeverdian prose, poetry and music included in this CD. The CD contains a 20 pages booklet with the lyrics of the songs and information and photos about the composers and musicians.
