One of the Few
The Irish-man Rodney Cordner and Jean-Pierre Rudolph, a jazz-musican, have been travelling through Europe for 19 years now including gigs at Mean Fiddler, London or this year again Montreux Jazz Festival just to give an example. Their different backgrounds lead to an interesting mixture between Irish wit, celtic rhythm and French romanticism. "One of the few" is an Irish term for something quite unique or rare and once again Rodney Cordner & Jean-Pierre Rudolph" (two of the few) have come up with a collection of music and song worthy of the title. As before the songs deal with the many facts of real life ie: Love, the pain of war, poverty, loneliness, faith, celebration and joyful humor from both, a practical and spiritual perspective. The songs are, as always adorned in a rich tapestry of sound from the many acoustic instruments of Jean-Pierre Rudolph and again he excels as both, musician and composer on several fine instrumentals. Songs that stand out include "The Orchard", "Entrenched" and "Celtic Tiger" from the pen of Cordner plus a fine version of the classic traditional song "Black is the colour". As on their previous album, international recording engineer Ron Kurz, who has worked with such world famous artists as Clannad, Peter Gabriel and Christy Moore to name but a few, is responsible for the recording and mixing as Co-Producer.
