Face to Face
Growing up together in the high plains of West Texas, Wes McGuffey and Johnny Jeffers emerged as a singing and songwriting duo in a lifetime pursuit of happiness through music. After moving to Austin in 2000, the pair met Austen Ross--a college friend with rhythm for a soul and drumsticks in his hands. With their collective talents, Consumption Hooks delivers a dynamic new sound to captivate listeners of all ages and backgrounds. Well-grounded in traditional song structures emphasizing vocal harmonies and lyrical intimacy, the band dissolves the boundaries of folk, rock, blues, and jazz. As one band member said in a recent interview 'When we write, there's not a specific style we're going for. Each song is a fleeting glimpse of inspiration filtered through all of our experiences.' Performing live, Consumption Hooks explodes with the same honesty and accessibility heard in their recordings. On stage, the friends create a fun atmosphere coupled with songs rich in emotional content. With long-time friendships fueling the band's chemistry, each live show sparks camaraderie as their community of loyal fans rock with the band. 'When you hear this band on stage it seems like you've always known them.' -Jason McGuire, MongiStudios. Mark your calendars for the Consumption Hooks debut release, Face to Face, from Dabo Records in September 2006. The new album chronicles the continuing growth of this gifted young group, narrating their journey one song at a time.
