Enskyment the Poetry of Robinson Jeffers
Enskyment - The Poetry of Robinson Jeffers Robinson Jeffers was known as the "poet of California." It has been a great honor and a labor of love creating musical accompaniment for his timeless words. Early on I took some advice from the poet Gary Snyder and tried to give this collection of poems a granite edge that I could only musically find with electric guitars crunching away over swinging grooves as classic rock and roll treatments. An occasional ghostly string section and the ethereal and enchanting voice of the lovely Tina Malia also grace and compliment my direct delivery of Jeffers' uncompromising language. I wanted to create a musical counterpoint to Jeffers' wild Big Sur coastline and his poignant and incisive observations lamenting the course of humanity. Simultaneously, I endeavored to sonically compliment his verse exalting and celebrating the glories of Nature. I also wanted to create a work that would introduce Jeffers' poetry to new generations by placing his words amidst infectious rhythms, raucous solos and haunting motifs. But ultimately everyone involved in this project is devoted to Jeffers' relentless and uncompromising eloquence in praise of the beauty of Nature.
