Dreamer-The Music of Stephen Foster
Born in Manhattan and raised in Texas, Cinzi Lavin began studying piano at the age of five, and was working regularly as a paid performer from the age of 16. A composer, arranger, and musical dramatist, she wrote both the script and score for the award-winning musical On This River. Having received wide public acclaim, one of the show's songs, "Underneath a Hullonian Sky," was honored by being named the official Town Song of Hull, Massachusetts. The production subsequently received an award for outstanding contribution to Massachusetts arts and culture by the state legislature. Her subsequent musical, Toilers of the Sea: The Life of Joshua James chronicled the dramatic life of the father of the U.S. Coast Guard and was a huge success. In addition to musical theatre, Lavin has written music and lyrics for diverse projects ranging from commercial advertisements to choral works. She has performed backup vocals for rock music recording sessions and has been a leading soprano in several church choirs. Her career highlights include the honor of conducting her own choral and instrumental works as presented by various choirs and musical groups, and performances by invitation at both Madison Square Garden and the White House. Jennifer Love was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania not far from where Stephen Foster was born and raised and subsequently composed his music. A graduate of Emerson College in Boston, one of the premier communication colleges in the United States, she has been performing with choirs and performing arts groups since childhood. She is currently a featured performer and board member with Hull Performing Arts in Hull, Massachusetts. One of her many artistic accomplishments is a performance at the White House during the Holiday Open House tours in 2010.
