At Illinois, he studied piano with Soulima Stravinsky, composition with Gordon Binkerd and choral music with J. Harold Decker. Dr. Yoder has taught music at the elementary and middle school levels, and choral music at the high school, college and university levels. In these positions, he frequently wrote sacred choral music for SATB, TTBB, SSA acapella groups as well as choral arrangements with instrumental accompaniments. During the summer of 1999, he spent some time in Manhattan and fell in love with the Central Park area, the museums, Wall street, the Twin Tower buildings, Park Avenue, Tavern on the Green, Boathouse on the Lake, as well as the outdoor concerts. It was also during this visit that he composed the Manhattan Piano Suite to depict or portray his impressions, thoughts, and feelings regarding Manhattan.
