Man on Fire
Smooth, Passionate, and Driven are three words to describe a man who continues to rise above all expectations. Furthermore, these words describe the prolific artist, Chris Shields. Growing up in a single parent home just outside of Chicago, Chris experienced first-hand, what it meant to struggle. It is through the adverse experiences of his upbringing that he developed the drive to excel. Determined to strive for something greater, he accepted an athletic scholarship from McKendree University where he graduated with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration. Upon completion of the program he returned back home to Maywood, IL with a strong ambition to pursue his true passion, music. Since the release of his first single "Smiling Faces" in 2007, Chris Shields has built a path on his musical journey that continues to wind farther up as he raises the bar for himself with each new project. In 2008 he released his debut album, "Lend Me Ya Ear," which had tracks featured on Chicago's top Hip-Hop radio station 107.5 WGCI. As an artist, Shields is full of ambition and thus, has also released 3 mixtapes: Everybody Hates Chris, Everybody Hates Chris Reloaded, and Sky's The Limit: No Ceilings. Fans have also grown fond of his music videos "Smiling Faces," "Back Down," and "Make a Movie," which is a featured single off of his upcoming album Man on Fire. Each project exhibits great artistry as well as collaborations with notable producers and other artists. Shields, described as a "lyrical genius," is no stranger to the Chicago hip-hop scene and is known not only for his powerful words but also his high-energy performance style which he has exhibited in various venues throughout the city. Chris was awarded as the Chicago RedEye track-off contest winner in June '10. His buzz extends beyond the Chicago city limits as he has been featured on national sites such as WorldStarHipHop.com. One of Chris's most significant honors was his recognition as Hip Hop Weekly's "Unsigned Hype" (September, 2009). Passionate about his craft and dedicated to his fans, Chris Shields comments, "I just love making music and I hope people can feel that when they hear my material."
