Product notities

Chris Kenny is a seasoned veteran in the Toronto music scene. Originally from Ottawa, Ontario, Chris has been belting out the blues professionally since the age of 16. Her performances combine a varied and compelling mix of show stoppers. Ranging from tender and tasty to rousers that get the house a rock'n, Chris works hard to bring you the experience one might have had seeing some of the greats live in a club. Her singing and writing style were influenced at an early age by Etta James, Koko Taylor, Diana Washington, Ella Fitzgerald, Bessie Smith and Billy Holiday to name a few. Chris's first Toronto appearance was at Alberts' Hall with Richard Barry (writer of Louie Louie) performing his song Roll With Me Henry which was the song that launched Etta James' career. Appearances and opening acts include performances with Canadian Juno and Maple Blues Award winners and nominees such as Jeff Healy, Jack Dekeyzer, Fat Head, Michael Picket, Maureen Brown and Chuck Jackson. Her new CD Something so Right is well worth a listen. Chris has written most of the material on the CD and brings in some heavy hitters to back her up. Drummer Penti (Whitey) Glan (Bette Middler, Alice Cooper are just a few of the names Penti has worked with.) Long time partner Brian Gauci on Guitars (Melba Moore, Danny B.) On pianos and B3 Michael Fonfara (Lou Reed, The Checkmates) On upright bass the smooth sounds of Dick Felix. Also sitting in on sax 5 time Maple Blues Award winner Pat Carey of Downchild (Tracks 3,6 & 8) as well as Rick Morrison formerly of Dr. John (Tracks 2 & 7). Danny B adds some flavor with blues harmonica on 2 tracks and Mr. Chuck Jackson of the Downchild Blues Band joins Chris on a Diana Washington Brook Benton tune Baby (You've Got What it Takes)' Chris is currently performing in clubs in the Toronto area with her band as well as gigging with Chuck Jackson and his band Big Stuff.
