Finally an explanation to how they got their name.... Cut to a rainy Tues open mic in '05. 1:00am and still haven't been called up to play. Killing time, Michy was unusually slurping down apple martinis while Janet held court at the bar. Biding time, fluttering around the bar, after ordering chicken wings as well as the drinks, Michy misplaced both, and after intoxication set it's course, her banter turned to incoherently rambled outrage at how she lost her chicken and martini forever! After around 20 minutes of this, a confused host onstage is trying to read illegible scrawl from a clipboard just as another drunk patron yelled out, 'why don't ya just call em chicken martini???!!' The rest is history. Janet Leto has been singing all her life and is also the percussive force behind Chic N' Martini, and her voice is well...let's just say 'damn'... Having found her musical muse in Michelle Gavilondo (aka Michy G) a few years back at an open mic, they became fast friends, and musical partners. 'Michy's vocal style is a study in contrasts, tender yet balls out in your face, her acoustic style isn't your typical finger-picking, pretty girl, sweet fare but she can go there if needed, and between them the eclectic blend of styles & harmonies are infectious. Many fans that have seen them live are drawn to that 'blend' that is hard to ignore. The organic nature of their live performances as a duo is not diluted by the full band that is enhanced by the amazing musicians who lent their touch to the project. The genius and vision of Tony Montalbo, producer/bass player is evidenced in the raw yet polished production.
