The music of Lotus Eaters spins a stunning and caressing web of enchantment, including gentle waves of rhythmic resonance. There is a meditative yet humorous jazzy vibe that runs through all the tunes, (except for the first offering, Lotus Fire Initiation, which rocks with spirit and imagination.) Bright Days is inspired by the wonderful South African composer, Abdul Ibrahim. Sun Lotus is a powerful and lyrical solo piano piece dedication to Keith Jarrett. Two other piano-only pieces explore arrangements for multiple pianos: the first, Ultramarine, is a duet dedicated to Alice Coltrane; the other is a piano sextet entitled Teahouse. Jakael Tristram plays electric bass and electric guitar with a graceful and powerful sweeping sound that uplifts the music throughout the CD. Chaz Bommarito provides exceptionally clear rhythmic expression with the use of powerful, propulsive grooves and instantaneous, responsive dynamic support. After dancing to the first tune, lie on your back and float for a while with Lotus Eaters.
