Songs of Faith
Charles Henderson began his singing career at the age of 7 in New York City. He started singing in the Ephesus SDA Church's Boys Choir. Today this choir is known worldwide as the 'Boys Choir of Harlem'. Through his teens, Charles performed in many different groups and choirs. He studied voice at the Thayer Conservatory of Music at Atlantic Union College, in South Lancaster, Mass. While there he performed with a touring chorale, known as Cantus. After college, Charles co-founded an a capella group, the Gethsemane Quartet, which traveled throughout the Greater New York area performing a traditional style of Spiritual Music. In his early 20's, he traveled with another group, the Ecstatistics. This group, a gospel quartet, was instrumental in developing some of the flavor in his music today. They performed with many of Gospel's greatest artists: Rev. James Cleveland, Pastor Shirley Caesar, the Williams Brothers, the Jackson Southernaires, the Gospel Keynotes, the Dixie Hummingbirds, the Mighty Clouds of Joy, and many more. Today, Charles travels all over spreading God's love with his own unique style of music. His style has grown from the various types of music he has studied and performed. When you hear him, you will hear a blend of his classical training, grass roots melodies, and gospel styles. His signature is his range of almost 6 octaves; ranging from his natural deep bass voice, to first tenor, with high falsetto notes. One thing is for sure, once you've heard his voice, you will never forget it!
