Spirit of God
Bio of Charles Barnes I am a band baby. I was twelve years old when my mother died from a horrible car crash motivated by a drunk driver. The last thing she got me was an old trumpet. I still love and perform on the trumpet today. When playing it, the memory of mom remain within me and diminishes some of my loneliness for her. Since middle school, many songs were written, arranged and performed. Championship achievement was made while in both the Darden High School Trojan Marching Band and the Ralph L. Fike Marching Band under the directorship of Mr. Cleveland Flowe. As a teacher of excellence, Mr. Flowe provided opportunities that allowed me to have membership in the North Carolina Band Director Association "Allstate Band". Night life performances were on the Jerry Lewis Tele-thon and as a member of the "Outcastes' Band and Show" and "The Majestic's Band and Show". As trumpeter, backup was given to lead singers such as Betty Wright, Jean Knight, James Brown, Jr., Chuck Wells and more. South Carolina State College allowed me to earn a Music Education degree even though music arrangements for the college band, the Henderson-Davis Drama department and several high schools within the Orangeburg, South Carolina region were initiated. As music for the Air Force Band and private bands were created and arranged, solace was found within the church. The church motivated me to grow and reach out to other cultures and ethnicities such as Kenya, Brazil and Korea. Within the music development, God placed the Hispanic and Country style music expressions within the creativity of the CD. As Minister of Music for Centro Familiar Church and Ambassador from Spain, the influence from traveling, participating and creating a family within these four cultures, makes me know that God has no respecter of people. God love is down to earth and true. These qualities you will hear and feel with the music and should be a start toward all having mutual love for each other.
