Chant is a gospel group that was formed in the summer of 2005. The Group comprises of 5 members. Many people may wonder why the name Chant. This is a question that we have encountered counteless times with people trying to come up with various interpretations including Christ something... among other interpretations. To help the many people out there who may also be trying to figure this out, the name Chant is basically an initial that stands for the first letters of each of the members names i.e Chris, Harold Anne, Njeri, and Tony. Chant was an idea that came up first, as a possible church youth project. At the time, all the Chant members were worshipping at the same church. One of the members, who was a youth leader at the church, thought of having a possible CD project done The youth at the church had just had a very successful youth service and there was obviously the talent in the group to do a CD project. On further consultation, it was very difficult to undertake such a project at the time. Four of the Chant members were also youth members at the church and when it was not possible to do the project as a youth, we started praying and asking God how he would use our various talents to serve him more.At that time, Tony was composing some songs and he agreed to work with the rest of the group to make a CD. The idea of the name Chant was floated by one of the group members and we all agreed that this was a very fitting name. We as Chant believe that our music is very inspirational and it is really the word of God spoken to us through songs. Not only are the beats very nice and sweet, the words are very meaningful and they minister to each one who has listened to the songs. We are always driven by our motto that says 'Burning the Torch of God's will by sharing his love to all' We believe that we are a unique group in that God has molded us throughout this experience. We have had our share of trials and tribulations but in all things, God has been very good We believe that there is a message that God is using us to pass through to his people and especially the youth, that even in your youth, you can be born again, spirit filled and still have fun in the Lord.
