Prominence is a quality that has gone by the wayside in the current age of alternative rock. The standard for instant success has become minor tweaks of the same old thing, a crude deviation of the old adage, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it," and it becomes clear how easily personal sentiment becomes simply affectation. For Nathan Medina and the members of The Canvas Waiting, this is "broke". Through stunningly personal lyrical inflections and lead by a sense of creativity straight from the soul, The Canvas Waiting has become a steadfast beacon for those in search of a "fix." Since forming in 2003, the Austin-based quartet has been a constantly evolving unit that has persevered in the face of setbacks and opposition. Through patience and unyielding faith, The Canvas Waiting has utilized their highly acclaimed 2005 debut, 'In Search of Beginnings,' as a foundation for captivating a dedicated legion of fans across the country. Singer/songwriter Nathan Medina's compositions have a sophisticated yet humble element that strike a personal chord with every listener. Guided by Medina's melodic vocal stylings, Eric Salzman's intricate guitar work maintains the harmonic balance of the music while a driving yet adaptive rhythm section of bassist Colby Hill and drummer Josh Rodgers binds together The Canvas Waiting's infectious hooks and inspired lyrics which have fascinated listeners from all walks of life. The group's emotional live performances are a prime example of this magnetism. The band's sophomore effort, 'A Season's Change,' is slated for release in March of 2009. It is a collection of the most vulnerable songs the band has released to date, and with it The Canvas Waiting hopes to further build upon what they have started in Texas and share it with the world.
