Calvin James was born in Newburgh, NY in 1979. In high school Calvin was well known for excelling in athletics. After graduating in 1998, Calvin's main focus was to attend a division one school to play sports. This led him to Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. In the spring of 99' Calvin auditioned and was accepted into the Esther Boyer College of music as a jazz vocalist major. He was also invited to play football at Temple for the 99-00 season, Calvin's future took a drastic turn in the summer of 99' when he tore his ACL and had to have arthroscopic knee surgery. Unable to play football, a friend bought him a guitar as a get well present. Calvin taught himself how to play. His song writing ability began to blossom. His desire to play football lessened as did his enjoyment of college. Calvin left college in the fall of 2001. On March 3rd 2003 he started his own record company, Climax Records, Inc. The label's first release is 'City'; Calvin's debut CD.
