Review by WORSHIP LEADER MAGAZINE: ''The Vow' is an outstanding tapestry of well-woven songs that serve both the listener and the heavenly Father. The title track, 'The Vow,' is one of many songs that are taking worship and praise to new and refreshing levels. 'May Every Word' could make it's way to the sanctuary and the airwaves. 'Behold' is reverent and contemporary in a way that grips the heart and uplifts the spirit. 'Every Knee' continues through this same path with wonderful vocals and clear biblical lyrics. Then, 'Through the Storm' jolts you into reality with a fresh punchy syncopated jazz vibe that is more of a transition than a diversion. The brass and strings throughout the album are both vibrant and intimate. 'I'm Here' and the duet 'Kissed by Heaven' with Sarah Duncanson are both pleasant and transparent in ways that add cohesion to THE VOW. The piano, guitar and tin flute add a creative texture that is well-arranged throughout. And Ashley Hinden's violin playing is just the right touch of expression at just the right time to add to Caleb's sincere lyrics. This is a splendid collection of worship music that is reverent, well produced and utterly inspirational.' ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Drawing on influences both from Soul and Gospel as well as mainstream Contemporary Christian and Worship, this collection of original compositions is certain to blur any rigidly defined notions of genre and audience appeal. Caleb places great emphasis on musical creativity (dare to be different!), lyrical profoundness, theological soundness, multi-genre identity, worshipful ministry, and vocal excellence. One of his main endeavors is to incorporate contemporary concepts of music, genre, and lyric while never forsaking the strength of the pillars of Christian tradition and orthodoxy in the name of 'relevance.' He was the worship leader for 2.5 years at a local church in upstate New York, during which time he recorded his first album. He lived in Sydney, Australia for 2 years to attend Hillsong International Leadership College. While in Sydney he was blessed to serve with the Hillsong worship team: leading the choir, singing BV's, leading the College Chapel vocal team, and singing for special performances during various conferences. Caleb is currently attending Oral Roberts University where he has been involved in the ORU Worship team as well as the Gospel group Souls A'Fire. He is studying in the Theology and Business departments with plans to graduate May 2010. Be sure to get your hands on 'The Vow' - the newest release from Caleb Kenneth Nelson.
