Bruce Hansen and Project 'Controlled Burn' Gutsy Smart and Fun The album is some of the more recent songs penned by Bruce. It's a high intensity, fully instrumented work that includes performances by other members of the Canadian 'A Team' Over the years Bruce has expanded his roots composition and acoustic guitar work to cross stylistic lines and in this album he moves easily through folk bluegrass country and rockabilly styles that are the basic influences in his work. Earlier Days Bruce's earlier background includes performance with folk and rockabilly groups as well as writing and recording in the folk scene of the 60's and early 70's. When the band got tired of living in a tent and quit, Bruce made his living by teaching school, by working in various places from Newfoundland to the Canadian Prairies in the resource industries and whatever. The music persists ands with a few saddle blisters in place there's really something to write about. The Music Rich in image, gritty and sometimes amusing life experience material is offered with strong drive, great melody and excellent musicianship. It is delivered with a voice that has been described a cross between Johnny Cash and Stan Rogers.
