Twice in a Blue Moon
Brian Hershberger has been a singer/songwriter for over 30 years. He was busy performing at concert venues and night clubs when Kurt Cobain was learning how to walk and smell like teen spirit. After folk music met it's death when Dylan picked up an electric guitar at Monteray, Brian continued carry the torch of the solo artist. He had the great fortune to play with many eclectic performers from from the 60's and 70's including, Tom Rush, Little Feat and Leon Redbone. It's been a busy year for Brian and his music. This CD was nominated by the Independent Magazine as one of the five best folk CD's of 2006. Additonally Brian placed second in the North Carolina Songwriters competition, (this being his fourth nomination out of the last five years). He has had multiple performances at festivals and concerts which have kept his calendar full. He is presently at work on a new CD with the tenative title to be 'Red Star'. It will be much in the same vein as 'Twice in a Blue Moon', in that Brian will perform all of the musicians duties, as well as produce and engineer. The early pieces have taken more of a minimalist approach and there is more use of open tunings to allow for more melodic interplay and multiple moving lines throughout the compositions. Stay tuned for updates.
