Voices Told Me
We put a lot of sweat, skill, smoke, and bumpin' into this work. Listen with your whole body and move with it. Or just kick it and fire it up. Either way you'll get off your ass. Maybe you need to laugh or cry. This is your opportunity. The rhythms are designed to musically dement you. Listen to all the pieces, even the lousy ones. One will make you right. Or you'll go down trying. We're hoping to inspire some choreographers and dancers to create custom Moves for the pieces. We need you! Get back to us soon. 'Voices Told Me' is not about voices in our heads telling us to do some pretty out there things, aweful and awesome things. Voices are our home-made vocal samples, turned into chorus, and demanding to be heard. You're brilliant! Some tracks really are live percussion, electric bass and guitar. Most were created in a DAW (digital audio workstation). Bobby Richman is the author and facilitator of the 'Bang Away for Dignity' rhythm workshops for the cognitively impaired. The goal is to improve the quality of life and give a sense of GAIN to people with severe Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease. Bobby does this by helping them learn and play rhythms together. They play percussion instruments, sing, dance, move their body parts, and sometimes just make vocal sounds to express the rhythmic patterns. Bruce Leighton is the studio-owner of Data Stream studio, which specializes in Hiphop and Rap projects. His recent work includes Paris, Public Enemy, and Sunspot Jonz. Mike Dodson can be found at Lampranthus studio cranking out wheelbarrows of songs in Reason softsynth. ATTENTION: Bobby is fronting his new live band, ' IndieMand '. This is a collaboration of three composers, 2-4 vocalists, a small company of dancers, and a remixer. Listen for their hit single, 'Take time', which features Bobby's lyrics and vocals. The DVD will be in the stores and available online very soon!!
