I have been a church musician with a no holding back mindset. Are you hungry for something new but familiar to express different Bible based truths not heard everyday? Some familiar too? Come with me to the 'Crossroads' Robert Johnson was searching for. Both excellent musicians ( I may be biased but...), my daughter Rachel (vocals)and son Rhys (drums) lent me a hand on a few of the songs. Below are the scriptures that inspired the songs so that you can put them in context. Read what is all around the scripture also so you can catch the full truth of what God is saying. You can find the scripture in your prefered version on almost every bible study site. 1.Crossroads- Jerimiah 6:16 -What a great title for a blues song. But this is where true contentment is found. Here it is! 'This is what the Lord says: 'Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, 'We will not walk in it.' See. There it is. 2.I Stand Firm- Ephesians 6:10-18- I wrote this song to help me memorize the Armor of God to get through lifes battles every day. Hope it helps you too. 3.I Won't Be Afraid- Ps. 56- This is really from most of the Psalm. The Anti-Worry Song! How it ended up a Reggae song.... It just sounded like one to me so I went from there. 4.I Choose To Bow- Phil. 2:5-11- A song of surrender. My wife Annette actually wrote the lyrics to this song. Rachel sings on this one. Rhys made his debut on the shaker. 5.Without Love You Ain't Nothin - obviously I Cor. 13:1-3. I think Rhys really nailed the drum part. 6.I Was Made By You Lord - Ps. 139- This is also based on most of this Psalm but I took it on from there to a more personal level. Life is so precious to God. This would make a wonderful song to address the abortion issue. 7.Don't React - Prov. 17:27,22:24,14:29,19:19, 29:11, 29:22 and onward.... Tim Bycroft inspired this song. Why do we loose our temper? I feel like the cheifest of all sinners here. 8.One- John 17:20-33- There will know we are Christians by our love but with a different twist here. Annette also wrote the lyrics to this song. Sounded like a Celtic song to me. She actually has an English heritage so who knows why I went that way..? 9.When I Draw Close to You- I John 1:7- This came from the times God felt so near and and the relationship and fellowship with Him is so real. This is really a Love song to God. 10.There But By- I Cor. 15:9-10, Philip. 4:10. First song I worked on for this album. Pastor Ed Day was preaching on the subject of Grace years ago and said Hey someone should write a song about this 'There but by the Grace of God go I'. Thx Pastor! This was actually said by a monk way back but is based on a few scriptures. I also included the definition of Grace in Websters. If not for His Grace where would we be? May these songs help you find rest for your souls wherever you may go. God Bless you Bob Ricchio.
