Product notities

This album is dedicated to fighting cancer. My daughter Tori has been a devoted advocate to cancer patients, even recently having her head shaved to show support. Our mutual friend, Carl, died recently after his second battle with cancer. 'Vitamin C for Carl' is one of the songs I wrote for this album. (The C stands for caring.) Another close friend has had cancer and continues to struggle. He has not only been a friend, but also a person who has helped me with my homes and my music over the past 26 years. His name is Alonzo and his name will appear on my earlier albums. I wrote 'Pokin and Proddin,' for him. That is what his treatment has been like, although that doesn't really convey the extent of the pain and discomfort he has endured. My friend Mary has been battling Cancer. Mary has a sense of irony and is a great lady with a wonderful sense of humor to match. For Mary, I wrote, 'Soporific Boogie.' My old friend Larry lost his father to cancer. I did not know his father well, but I wrote 'Larry D Blues' for Larry and his father Bayne and for Larry's son, Julian. Larry and Julian have been devoted supporters of music over the years, including my own. Daughter Tori and her daughter and son, Ellie and Joel, were friends with Michael, a very brave, bright and cheerful little guy, who lost his battle to cancer. He liked the song, 'You Are My Sunshine.' My granddaughter sang this song at his funeral. I am dedicating my version on this album to Michael. Sister-in-law, Moria, was so full of life. I am pretty sure she held the record for most spoken words per minute and in her Scottish brogue, we took pleasure in every word. She was an energetic wife, mother and a teacher. She won her first battle with cancer, and put up a good fight for the second round, but that was her last fight. 'Belly Dance Boogie' expresses the energy and spirit of Moira. Sister in law Valerie has had to make many trips to the hospital for chemo and radiation. She is a wife and young mother and youngest of six siblings. I am dedicating my version of 'The Circle Game,' by Joni Mitchell, to Val, who is now recovering from her treatments. Vincenzo Avila was the sound engineer, who played drums and assisted with the arrangements on this album. He lost his sister to cancer a few years ago. Marciana Vequist, the photographer who provided the art for this album, lost her husband to cancer also a few years ago. To all the people waging a fight against cancer and to the families of these precious souls and to the cherished friends and family that have already left us, I humbly proclaim this meager musical contribution, to you.
