Newly formed in the summer of 2008 the band Blenderfish has a unique sound that incorporates a diversity of styles and influences. Based in the Northern Front Range of Colorado, Blenderfish brings a new age sound with a retro flair. Those that hear the band say that it sounds familiar but they aren't sure what to call it. Blenderfish members are all songwriters with backgrounds in blues, rock, jazz and metal. The name Blenderfish comes from the blending of these influences in it's approach and philosophy of being progressive, "swimming like funky fish in the ocean". Incorporating different instrumentation the six piece band brings sounds of the cello, bass, electric guitar, tribal rhythms, saxophone, vocal harmonies and synthesizer. The mix of acoustic and new age effects gives the band dimension and provides a deep rich energy. Strong rhythms with melodic overtones create an edgy feel with forward momentum that holds it's audiences interests while encouraging the connection for movement and dance. Each member shares a love for music and the positive roll it provides in the world. The band hopes that it's influence on it's fans promotes creativity, individuality and a passion for having an, "electromagnetic Jedi good time mind buzz." Rick Miller is a long time Coloradoan. He is a classically trained musician who has played cello in many orchestral settings. Rick has many other band experiences from rock to Celtic. Having these different influences Rick has the ability to catch you with the registers of his cello and rock you with funky driving bass. As a song writer he weaves interesting progressions with unique timing and tone. Rick brings an open mindedness that embraces different sounds with the skills and the music theory to pull it off. Paul Dillion recently moved to Colorado from Northeast Kansas. As a young songwriter Paul has natural talent for composition and combines his music with rock steady guitar skills. Bringing a fresh approach with haunting overtones it is easy to get one of his songs stuck in your head. Paul has been a strong influence on the Blenderfish sound and big part of it's progressive mindedness. Enjoying a solo career until moving to Colorado, Paul adds musical talent and positive young energy to the band. Rob Mares does it all. Living much of his life in Colorado Rob has had many alternative and hard rock band experiences. His dynamic approach to percussion leads to high energy and creativity. Strong primal beats mixed with jazzy fills and rocken double bass makes for movement and energy that will grab your attention. As a young song writer Rob has natural talent for composition and writes song after song that connects with listeners right away. Though having his first love being percussion a close second would be the guitar. Rob shreds it. Rob has the ability to play keys, bass, and just about anything he puts his hands on. Rob brings high octane energy to the band with the ability and skill to go in just about any creative direction. Frank Roddy moved to Northern Colorado in the summer of 2008. Frank brings many years of musical experiences to the band. Recently from Nashville, Frank has lead and been a part of many bands from Detroit, to Phoenix and now in Colorado. Frank is a recognized song writer as well as a ripen guitarists. Frank shares his talents with many local music projects. Frank brings the warm tones of the Saxophone to the band. His fat registers and progressive solo's gives the band a full sound that has direction and movement. Josh and Melissa Rabe have also swept in from the plains. Melissa being born and raised in Colorado met up with Josh in North Eastern Kansas and the two are currently living in Loveland. The duo only recently formed when Melissa decided that playing music would be fun. Quickly finding her voice with the synthesizer and remembering the many piano lessons she rebelled against as a child, Melissa has quickly become a serious musician who is having more fun than ever. With her background in fine arts, Melissa uses her creativity to paint and sculpt sounds that provide the subtle, abstract backdrop that glues the band together. Josh has played in and led a few bands before moving to Colorado. Driving rhythms, poetic in your face lyrics and edgy lead vocals define his song writing and helps set the tone for the Blenderfish sound. We strongly encourage you to give the blended sound a try. Our hopes are that you enjoy our songs as much as we have fun playing and creating them You can find our first CD, Blenderfish, Volume One on firstname.lastname@example.org, or www.myspace/blenderfishmusic . We are a young band with lots of musical diversity and experiences. We are looking forward to making more music and already appreciate the support we have had from friends, fans and the Northern Colorado music community.
