Redux represents Black Friday's 5th full length CD in their 24 year run. This album has reenlisted original Black Friday "alum", Kurt Deemer and String Cheese Incident's Kyle Hollingsworth. Redux has provided an outlet for some of the bands previously unrecorded crowd favorites and has also reworked some previously released material with a newer, but mature feel. Redux provides a cornucopia of musical style and showcases the blazing guitar of guitarist, Shawn Heming. Songs "Lonely Roads" and "South of Border" showcases the bands hard rockin' side that is the essence of their long-storied live performances. Tracks like "Who am I" and "Take a Chance" reflect the bands ability to produce carefully crafted harmonies seeped in Jamish Americana. Finally the songs "Cold Dark Room" and "Gus' Song" highlight the band's ability to show that less can be more in stripped down, folky melodies. Redux captures the essence of Black Friday in it's multi-faceted entirety while documenting the longevity of a band that has resisted the lure of fad over it's 24 year existence, plugging away at what they do best, good old rock and roll.
