Chasing a Dream
I wrote and recorded 'Chasing A Dream,' first and foremost, for the love of music. The album is a mixture of guitar-oriented, instrumental, contemporary and Latin jazz music, with a few swing-era jazz and solo acoustic tunes thrown in for good measure. The album has enough musical diversity that I actually considered calling it 'Montage' at one point in time, but decided to go with 'Chasing A Dream' because I felt this title better expressed my relationship with music and my passion for creating it. My musical journey began in my late teens when I began playing guitar. I actually studied music for several years and played in several rock bands before I discovered jazz. That discovery evolved into a passion and love for the musical style. Three years ago, I finally decided to put everything together and make this album. My musical influences include: Wes Montgomery, Kenny Burrell, Carlos Santana, Lee Ritenour, and Norman Brown, whom I feel is the most expressive and soulful jazz guitar player alive today. In addition to writing music, I have also authored a 400+ page book about guitar scales, chords and theory, and a 200+ page book about keyboard chords and scales. I am presently looking to assemble a band and line up some gigs in the Northern California area, plus I am also writing material for my next album.
