Psonyq-Mzjf (Sonic Mischief)
I started to play guitar in 1971, at the ripe old age of 10. I have stuck with it for over 30 years. I've been in garage bands, wedding bands, and at present with a blues band called 'Mudtrane'. The name is a combination of 'Muddy Waters' and 'John Coltrane'. Check out our video on Youtube. Just search for 'Mudtrane Cold Shot'. These tunes represent some of what I've written on my own in the past few years. I call it "PSONYQ-MZJF" (sonic-mischief) because I've tried to wear all the 'hats'...composer, musician, arranger, engineer, mixer...without the help of professionals. This music was recorded on a Roland VS2400 CD Digital Audio Work Station. I used Gibson guitars, a Yamaha PSR 540 Keyboard for keys, synth, and drum sounds, and MXL V57M mics for vocals. I did have a friend who is in the music biz, both as a musician and an engineer, run these tracks through his Pro Tools Mastering Suite just for good measure. This collection of songs varies style wise as I like to experiment with different types of music. All of this leads me to the idea that without professional oversight this culmination of my talents is aptly called sonic-mischief, or as a brain teaser, "PSONYQ-MZJF". I like to play with words and spelling too! Hope You Enjoy! Yours truly, Bill Schoen.
