Shirley Ables & The Joy Gospel Singers 2003 inductees to the Gospel Hall of Fame 'The Best of Shirley Ables & The Joy Gospel Singers' Minister Shirley Ables is from Washington, DC and has been using her anointed voice and God given talent to play the piano and electrify audiences since the age of four. Minister Ables has released several recordings ('Shirley Caesar presents Shirley Ables - My Jesus' and 'Shirley Ables & The Joy Gospel Singers - Keep on Prayin') and performed on radio, television and in concert receiving rave reviews in the local, national and international media. Minister Ables has traveled throughout the country performing which also included Hawaii, England and Barbados. She has also participated in Dr. Billy Graham's 'Youth Quake' and Shirley Caesar's 'Outreach Crusades'. Minister Ables has received notable recognition for her ministry that included being a recipient of the 1992 and 1993 'Wammie' award and her induction into the 2003 Gospel Music Hall of Fame. In obedience to God's command to use her gift of teaching, Minister Ables organized the 'Shirley Ables Music Ministry' where students learn piano, voice and other instruments. Students not only learn music but also are taught the word of God as Minister Ables ministers to the entire person. Her students range in age from three to adult and many begin playing for area churches when they are as young as six years old. Some of her students have become preachers, professional musicians, singers, actors and teachers. The Joy Gospel Singers consist of Patricia Ables, Jeanette Harrison and Sanada McFall. Together they strive to spread the good news of the gospel through song.
