Gospel According to Praise-The Testimony
Belvayuna Stewart The Person We don't always get a chance to witness the horizon of a person like Belvayuna. It's like the dawning of a new day or the onset of spring; where we wake up or look around and it's just there. But, if you watch her carefully, you will see the dawning of a new day, the introduction of a new sound, and the steadfastness of God's word proclaimed with a fresh new authenticity of lyrics and melodies that could only have come straight from the throne room of God. That is the best way one can describe her debut album 'The Gospel According To Praise: The Testimony', and the way she has been defined from birth. You see, the name 'Belvayuna' means 'A Beautiful New Day'. Belvayuna is also a beautiful person, from the inside and out. She is a multifaceted woman. She is a wife, mother, sister, daughter, friend, nurse, educator, entrepreneur, composer, recording artist, and psalmist. However, she insists on being defined musically, as a Minister of the Gospel of Praise. She will quickly affirm to you, 'I am not an entertainer or performer. I am a worshipper, a praiser, and an exhorter.' Belvayuna gives God the glory and credit for the songs you hear on her CD. He has taken the experiences of this life; graced them with His holy Word and turned them into songs of testimony, edification and supernatural deliverance that does not mimic the world but raise the standard. Belvayuna is a native Detroiter who now resides in West Bloomfield, Michigan. Born the seventh of ten children, Belvayuna was raised by her father an employee of Chrysler Corporation and her mother, a homemaker. She was raised and educated in the Catholic faith, but left the Catholic church in her senior year at the University of Michigan, was saved in the Pentecostal church, later joined and has remained in the non-denominational Full Gospel church. The Calling Just looking at her, one would notice her natural physical attributes. But, Belvayuna is much more supernatural than natural. You see, she has weathered the attacks of a long term of illnesses that has attempted to claim her life numerous times. This has left her partially deaf and believing God for the grace to succeed each day of her life. She exclaims that ' I'm suppose to be laying in some hospital bed looking up at the ceiling; not knowing who I am, but God asked me to trust Him and I did. That is what the song 'I would Do It Over Again ' is about. God is awesome at taking the impossible and making it possible. When you learn to let go and let God and believe what He says in His Word He will do, there is nothing impossible that you can't do; when He calls you to do it.' That is what makes the songs on the CD such a powerful ministering tool to the church and the world. They testify of what God has done and can do for anyone who will trust and believe in Him. The CD This CD is comprised of live instrumentation from nineteen gifted musicians (some who are nationally known). The way Belvayuna composed the songs on the CD is also supernatural. She emphasizes that the Holy Spirit gave her all of the songs you hear on the CD, either while she was asleep or just going through the trials of life. ' I would wake up humming or singing a melody and would have to quickly write down the words, and tape myself singing and playing it on the piano. I would hear the lyrics and the music just as if it was being played on the radio. The song entitled ' Sing me a melody' is a song about how the Holy Spirit gives me songs.' She says that other times the Holy Spirit will give her an idea or just the title and then give her the song later. 'I was in church and pastor said 'There is only one God and His name is not Muhammad, Buddha or Hari Chrisna', then the Holy Spirit told me to write that down because He would give me a song about it later. That is how the song entitled 'There is only one God' was given to me. You will find that all of the songs on the CD are Biblically accurate. Belvayuna says that the Holy Spirit even gave her the title of the CD as well as the order in which the songs are arranged on the CD. The Message Belvayuna emphasizes that God has brought her too far and blessed her too much and has revealed Himself to her to greatly for her to compromise her gift. ' God gave me five senses and common sense to go along with them. However, I seek daily to place His Holy Word and the leading of His Holy Spirit above them all.' When asked what the theme of 'The Gospel According To Praise: The Testimony' is, Belvayuna states that: 'It's my testimony. It is about conversations between the Lord and I, being exposed to whomever listens to the songs. My prayer is that it will create a desire in the listener to want to know the Lord for himself or herself. I believe that that is how God used the apostle Paul through the books he wrote in the New Testament. Paul exposes the reader to the experience, relationship and revelation that had occurred between the Lord and himself, and every time you read it, it makes you what to know the Lord like that. '
