Believe (Original Soundtrack)
'Believe - The Musical' takes an honest and candid look at the lives of teenagers hailing from difficult backgrounds and circumstances. The story follows the life of John, a wayward teenager who struggles in school and life. Faced with a deceased father, an abusive mother and a difficult school system, John's only solace in life is his gang, which comprises of more of such teenagers. Together, they spend their days at LAN shops, getting into scuffles and fights, living one day at a time, with no thought for their future... because they believe that there isn't one. It was during one such scuffle at a LAN shop that landed John and his gang in jail. And it was under such dismal circumstances that he meets Teck An, his new probabtion officer. Teck An, whose career is spent shepherding adult probation wards, was uncomfortable with his new assignee, for a very personal (and tragic) reason. Following a bumpy start, John was finally able to get his life back on track, under the guidance of Teck An. His gang, however, was less than enthused, thinking that he had deserted them. Gary, in particular, felt the distance from his best friend, and struggles with John having a better future, and that future not including him. The story shifts into high gear when a fight to settle an old score results in the death of one of the gang members. Seeking comfort with his mother, but finding only more abuse, John's world falls apart, and he finds himself staring down into a deep, dark abyss of despair. 'Believe the Musical' - for everyone who has been a teenager!
