To Ou Ta
With the release of their first Album (Mèsi, 1995) Batwel Rada started at the top of the thriving World Music scene of Cambridge, Massachusetts. They quickly received a Boston's Phoenix nomination for Best World Music band and was often the subject of full-featured articles in the music section of the Boston Globe and other local newspapers. With their second CD, this group of Haitian expatriates and their American co-conspirators has definitely reached the full measure of their musical and lyrical maturity. Weaving the polyrhythmic pulses of the traditional Haitian Rada drumming with melodic lines that effortlessly flow equally over pop, as well as Jazz-influenced harmonies, this new album is sure to become a gem in anyone's music collection.
