Roots & Wings
After 45 years of teaching guitar and performing in concerts, coffee houses and clubs, as well as playing lead guitar on recordings by several other musicians, Barry has finally decided that his name belongs on the cover of the CD, instead of the back. A fingerstyle guitarist, specializing in open tunings and presenting the fruits of four and half decades of commitment to his instrument (6, 12 and high-strung 'Nashville Tuning' guitar), Barry has also written and performed the music for art installations, health and wellness recordings, and Hospice memorial services. His unique approach toward American 'roots' music blends well with his appreciation for contemporary song writers. Having performed in concerts with some of the most notable names in American folk music and blues (Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee, Pete Seeger, Jesse Winchester, etc.), Barry's style is a downhome blend of acoustic blues, folk songs, instrumental delights and originals. Joining Barry are a host of remarkable New England musicans including: Martin Grosswendt (bass, mandolin and slide guitar), Chris Turner (harmonica and jaw harp), Cathy Clasper-Torch (violin & cello), Tesseract3 (back-up vocals) and Monica Ambroziak (back-up vocals). This is deeply emotional music that both touches your heart and keeps your feet moving - at the same time.
