Product notities

And B-Dub is who? The dude who sounds like Ron Burgundy jamming with Cut Chemist cutting up St Germain's LP collection, with Bossa Tre, and The Players Association on backing beats, that's who! Funky Jazzy Latin infused Disco House, with Mellow Hip-Hop and Blue Note Soul Jazz for room to breathe. And yet.. 'Bossa Beat Trip' contains many different aural shades and colours. From the playful bouncy Flute groove of 'Disco-Riffic', to the haunting mellow Trumpet over a laid-back Hip Hop feel in 'Closing Time..', and the bittersweet Rhodes chords over the Jazz Funk of ' Dallas De Noviembre'. Also, the Bossa/Drum'N'Bass of 'Surco Suave Del Bossa' that alternates between a Major key feel for the verse, and flows into a melancholy vocal through the Minor chord break sections. The track order of 'Bossa Beat Trip' takes you, the listener, through many different moods, tied together by the style and feel of B-Dub's musical influences and production. It's the stuff you hear in those impossibly cool Cocktail bars, those trendy non-chain Coffee houses, the beat you tap your toes to sipping a great Cappucino, - and think, 'man, this is smooth, who's this?!'.. And now you know! Hear it yourself now, or hear it later from someone else .. B-Dub plays the guitar, cuts up records, works them turntables, makes the beats, chops up 'n manipulates the horns, flutes, breaks, keys, bass - you name it! It's all in there, handled with care and a sensitivity for the mood. B-Dub also takes care of all the mixing, mastering, edits, and re-mixes. He does bounce off tunes with a trusted group of friends and longtime fans for feedback, though (and can't thank them enough!) So, why call it 'Bossa Beat Trip'? Well, B-Dub thought originally it was gonna be a Disco and Funk Breaks album, but that Latin feeling percussion kept getting more layered and layered, the bpm count crept up, and the production started sounding a little bit cleaner than just sampled breaks. During a live Radio interview on the ABC with Triple J presenter Rosie Beaton, he was asked what the upcoming album will sound like. The reply was 'I'm on a huge Bossa and Breaks trip at the moment, so that'll probably filter through..', and it did. So, 'Bossa Beat Trip' it is! B-Dub Discocography 2006 on 'Stranger Fruit' - 5 song EP with a more Acid Jazz feel, released for promo giveaways and radio airplay. 2 songs soon to be re-released with a new project. 'That Funky Disco Aficionado' - 11 song mixed promo sampler with some early versions of Bossa Beat Trip songs, one remix off Stranger Fruit, and a couple that didn't fit the new vibe. 'Welcome II B-Town' 2 Beat tracks provided (Supa-Cala, and How It Happened) for Central West rapper Jerry Hattric, via Toasted Records. 'Bossa Beat Trip' released November 2, 2007. Independent release through B-Dub's label, Grooves' N Breaks. 3 of B-Dub's songs have been used for advertising on radio, and some re-mixes on several on-line Advertising campaigns. He has also been in a Featured Artist playlist on Triple J, and has Primetime airplay on FBi radio, Sydney, Australia. Some History and Little-Known Anecdotes From the ashes of a 4 piece Funk/Electro/Drum'n'Bass collective in 2004, B-Dub put down the guitar for awhile, and got himself 2 turntables, a crate of records, some Sound Generation programs, and a hard drive full of samples. Thought about all the stuff he used to listen to, all the stuff out now that inspires, where a lot of it came from. A hibernation period, while immersing himself in the music he loves, basically. This crash course resulted on 1'000's of songs in lots of stylistic directions, 5 worn out stylii, a serious caffeine addiction, and a whole body tan line. Anecdote # 1 - B-Dub was a serious Metal-Head as a teenager. From there, it was piles and piles of demo's, listening sessions with friends, DJing at parties and small bars, dropping original songs in the mix in between BeatFanatic and De La Soul, to feel the face to face reaction, and airplay on Community radio, and various local bars and Cafes. Anecdote # 2 - B-Dub has never learnt 'Stairway To Heaven' past the opening chords. B-Dub continues to work on new songs, with different artists, and does the odd remix or two for friends and online collaborations. He's also finishing up a Latin Jazz compilation CD for a café chain, from all the buried treasure he found while listening and researching Bossa / Jazz records, labels, and artists. Anecdote # 3 - B-Dub knows ALL of Samuel L. Jackson's lines in 'Jackie Brown'. B-Dub is working on a new project with B-Dub on nylon guitar and taking care of the beats, Tory Roth on vocals, keys, and flute, with a guest MC on a few tracks. Sounds like? Bebel Gilberto being re-mixed by Primo for a mixtape to play for a birthday party at a Spanish Vineyard. I think.. How about Groovy Bossa mixed with uptempo Hip Hop? Yeah, that's it. Viva! A 5 song EP is currently being recorded, and scheduled for release in the next 2 months. Thanks for reading, and listening. Peacenlove to you all, from B-Dub.
