Auternus is a Kansas City, Missouri based ambient rock band known for their endless boundaries of heavy movements and space. Auternus formed from a chance introduction of Joshua Quint (guitarist/vox) and Jeff Irvine (guitarist) and upon discovering similar musical ideologies, the writing process began. After completing a handful of songs the search for other members started, culminating in the recruitment of Joshua Simcosky (drums) and Steve Hittner (bass). The search for a new bassist began in fall of 2010 after Hittner's departure, with Brett Southard stepping in shortly thereafter. The first EP 'Changing Seasons ' was recorded by Justin Mantooth and was released in 2009. It expresses the first collection of songs rooted in the gradual changes of tempo, intensity, and ambient space. These initial songs and full show schedule transitioned to the first full length 'Dissonant Sea' recorded by Paul Malinoswki (Shiner) and Cory White (The Esoteric) in the fall of 2010. 'Dissonant Sea' is composed of ambient layers that accumulate to epic, sometimes melancholy vs. Optimistic songs with heavy crescendos and is due for release early 2011.
