As his first solo effort, Awakening introduces Owen to the world as an essential, charismatic and vibrant young performer. His eleven-song collection is a compelling debut, offering emotive and soulful vocals combined with expressive songcraft and originality. In the fall of 2006, Austin began work on Awakening with producer/engineer Tony Young. Recorded at the HCYR Recording Studios in the beautiful Hill Country of Texas, the album unearths Austin fronting a solid, inventive studio band from Austin, Texas consisting of guitarist Scott Boland (Sweet Soul Vibe), drummer "Nico" Leophante (Hal Ketchum Band), and Keith Carper (Hal Ketchum Band) on bass. Awakening's intensity and heart attest to Austin's vision of his identity as an artist. "I play what's in my soul. Music makes us feel things. What good is a song if it doesn't move you. I want my music to transcend what is 'fashionable' and instead meet people in a place of real emotion."
