Honey on the Razor
The brain child of vocalist/bassist Eddie Kelley and guitarist/keyboardist Alan Markes, and rounded out by the intricate drumming of Michael Gerrard, Audioyoga is an experimental alternative rock band dedicated conceptually to the principle of East meets West. The word 'yoga' in it's most basic sense simply means a connection with the divine, which this band tries to achieve - however fleetingly - through music. 'Honey on the Razor,' the album title, is an ancient Buddhist metaphor for the inevitable agony that results from our endless seeking for objects of desirous attachment. Recorded in Alan's Earthship, utilizing the power of sun and wind, this collection of tunes ranges from simple blues-rock, as in 'Good for Someone Else' and 'Go another Way;' to the more cerebral, as in 'Secrets,' 'Go,' and 'Honey on the Razor;' with even the occasional jazz influence, as in 'No Frills.' This album is a tasty, eclectic, unique and thoughtful treat for alternative rock fans everywhere.
