All of 16 when she recorded her debut album, this Canadian singer/songwriter's vocals are surprisingly strong and yet girlishly sweet. Introspective, quirky, and bright, this artist's catchy melodies and clever lyrics showcase her limitless potential. The album's tracks range from brooding ballads which express both a pain and understanding well beyond her years (Come Home to Me), to outright feel-good pop songs (I Love You Like). She focuses on the complexities of growing up in a small town (Fly), so it's no surprise that the theme of breaking free seems to permeate the album. Musically, the tracks sometimes lean toward folk and country, but they maintain an overall pop sensibility. Her extremely well-received debut album is proof that Ashley Fayth is a promising young talent to be reckoned with.
