Fun Is Near
Artifact Shore comes from varying backgrounds. From studying recording engineering in Banff Canada to writing and recording experimental music in London to guitar teching and playing in bands across North America. Starting and functioning as much more of a collective due to members living abroad. In 2005 core members (finding themselves in their late twenties) made a steadfast decision to start a studio and start self-releasing records accompanied by sonically intense live shows. The hometown of Minneapolis Minnesota served a nice backdrop for Artifact Shore's initial recordings, especially their breakthrough EP Landscape Removal. The severity and dynamisms of Minnesota's seasons certainly served as convenient inspiration. The Landscape Removal EP for instance was recorded in the dead dead cold of a Minneapolis winter evoking a bleak post-apocalyptic landscape, and ranges from industrial, frenetic rage to a meticulously layered melancholy. After playing gallery, club and theatre shows in Minneapolis, New York City, etc. Throughout 2006 to support both Landscape Removal and other new material. The very different Fun is Near EP was recorded with an expected Summer 2007 release scheduled to accompany a redirected live experience.
