My Heart on My Sleeve
Annie Sharkey Annie Sharkey, a Massachusetts resident, began her career in musical theater in New York City. She has been an accomplished vocalist in the Boston area for over 20 years in various venues, including cabaret, top forty, original rock, an oldies show band, and as a featured vocalist for the Winiker Orchestras. Recently, Annie produced her first CD, Heart on My Sleeve, and she is planning a CD release engagement this fall. Previously, she performed her one-woman cabaret show, Look to the Rainbow, at Club Café in Boston and Jimmy Tingle's in Somerville. In addition, Annie this year was the featured artist at Cambridge Arts Center for March is Cabaret Month. Throughout the years, she has been featured numerous times at Amazing Things in Framingham. Four years ago, Annie starred in A Tribute to Judy Garland at the Riverside Theatre in Hyde Park. She has also been chosen to play the lead role in an original musical, Salem Towne. As one of 36 vocalists selected nationally, Annie completed the Cabaret Symposium at Yale in the summer of 2003. The Symposium was an intensive 10 days of master classes, performances, and lectures. Annie serves on the Board of the Boston Association of Cabaret Artists, and she is also the editor of the BACA newsletter. Annie also works with her husband, Gary. She is office manager of their public relations firm, Woonteiler Ink in Waltham. Annie is the mother of two college grads, Matthew and Alanna.
