Born in Russia in the industrial city of Ufa, Andrew began to learn to play piano at the age of 7. After having graduated from the Ufa State College of Arts as a pianist, Andrew was employeed as a studio musician and as a chief musical editor at the local broadcast station. Side by side with the classical music, his major influences of that period were the recordings of Keith Emerson and Rick Wakeman. Main classical preferences - J.S.Bach, F. Chopin, G. Gershwin. Since that time till today, the massive keyboard sound together with the virtuoso piano fingerwork feature his recordings made for the various bands and projects. Since 2001, Andrew Roussak lives in Germany as a freelance artist, playing live gigs with the bands and solo piano concerts, writing orchestra scores, doing studio jobs and giving the piano and keyboard lessons. In 2006, Andrew won the German Pop & Rock Award as the best keyboard player and the best instrumental soloist. In 2010, Andrew's first solo piano CD BLUE INTERMEZZO was published by MUSEA Rec. We are given emotionally charged music of the highest order, which is classical one minute, jazz the next and to some degree incorporating elements of rock, multi-faceted which is what keeps this all very fresh and progressive. We are talking about Andrew Roussak being in the same league as the maestros such as Keith Emerson and Rick Wakeman make no mistake about that. This time around Andrew has stepped into the world of creative music alone, for me a wise step, which highlights his creative force, his ability to be able to create and present with confidence. On his past work he has worked with bands, but just the raw energy of what has been created here exudes that WOW factor.' They are played with passion and skill, demonstrating once more what an great musician Roussak is. The recording is very good as well to my taste. Interesting art work for the cover and the booklet, a step-up from the debut in that respect. All around, a top notch CD, and an original gift for the holidays season. On a scale of 1-6, a 5,5 masterpiece.' Published on 30/12/2010 on Ragazzi.
