Picture Perfect Town
For brothers, the voices, songs, and stylings of Cam and Trevor Lynch are noticeably diverse. No doubt, however, these beautiful disparities are integral to American Royal the band the Lynch brothers front and their rich sound. Trevor's deep rasp and occasional minor chord progressions not only illicit comparisons to hootie and the blowfishes' front man Darius Rucker, but reveal a deeper and more searching side of the twenty-two year old. Cam is a songwriter's paradigm-consistently fascinated by melody, security, and what sounds right, yet determined to twist everyday feelings into revealing outcomes. Their mixture is one of fascinating reflection - where Cam picks, Trevor strums, where Cam whispers, Trevor whales and when they meet in the middle which just happens to be all the time' the sound is true and captivating. All this is present on their new release 'picture perfect town'. Highlights include the rockers, 'hey elizabeth' and 'earth spinning' which both harken back to simpler safer rock and roll. The Lynch brothers' freshman effort carries with it a certain excitement, a harmony of lives so fulfilled and yet still undone. Like taking a chance, or a long road trip, or stealing a kiss from the girl down the street 'picture perfect town' makes you feel like life is worth living.
