Alexandro Schillaci is a Sicilian composer and guitarist, born in 1986. He started studying guitar at the age of 12, taking inspiration from guitarists like Brian May, David Gilmour, Van Halen, Joe Satriani and so on. "Year after year my interest in music was developing more and more, and soon I realized I wanted to write my own music. The curious thing was that I didn't want to write down just guitar parts, but every other instrument as well. Since I was young, I have been very passionate about films and video-games, and their music scores. And even if I was studying guitar, I have always paid attention to all the instruments involved and I also didn't care if there was no guitar at all. These are the main reasons that drove me to write this album. I wanted two of my passions, soundtracks and rock music, to meet and melt together, in a form that allowed me to tell a story, through feelings and sensations. The album's title "Flussi" means "Streams" (referring to the Stream of Consciousness), embraces the philosophy and the mood of the album, and also of every single piece of it. I wanted every story, every concept, every sensation, and every note, to flow naturally, developing and changing at the same time. I can say I had really clear ideas, and I was in peace with myself. This is what it needed to make this album. I just wanted to communicate, trying not to think too much, and let the music flow on her own, almost as I wasn't there. It's an immature work, but in a beautiful way, with magic in it." InsaNe The opening piece "Insane", is where the idea of the album started. It represents best than the other the "Flussi" concept. It's one of my earliest works, and yet one of the best. I just wanted to put my feelings on music, and it was there. It's an "honest" composition, transparent, full of me. Il Sogno "Il Sogno" (The Dream) is purely the story of a dream, divided in three sections. The first one ("Sospeso") is when you aren't yet asleep, but suspended somewhere not identified. Once falling asleep the scene moves to the Room ("La Stanza"). What I imagined and felt was a place where physics are not as we know them, the room itself hasn't got straight walls, and it's full of weird entities. You want to escape and once out of the door you get to a Nightmare ("L'Incubo). Life Awaken, you are back to life. This piece contains in itself the dual meaning of life : life, and death. In fact, it has been inspired by the death of a man who was loved by a person close to me. This piece celebrates life, instead of blaming death, in a way the embraces both. Draziw the Wizard Purely rock track, this is the result of a two days alone at home, with my guitar, and my little friend Draziw, a little frog wizard, who plays the piano. Pensieri "Thoughts", minimalistic piano piece, again, putting myself into music, in a simple way. Impero The ending piece of the album, as well as the last one composed, is very close to the opening one. Different in style, complexity, approach, beautifully carries out my desire to narrate music, and closes the album, representing my highest musical attempt, flowing naturally through different emotional states. Xenia "Xenia" were the gifts the ancient Greeks used to give a guest as he left their house. Ancient Romans called "Xenias" the gifts that they used to give each other during "Saturnalis", celebrations where every social class was reverted. The poet Marziale so called a collection of ironical and satirical matters. This is the spirit of the last two tracks.. They are not "Streams" (Flussi). They are gifts. To say goodbye, and thank you, with a little smile.
