Adventures of Joe Chaplain 2: Icarus
Joe Chaplain's second solo album 'Icarus' was released on October 14, 2008. Acoustic and electric guitars, Mellotron and excellent vocals are way easy on the ears. One of the tracks, 'The Rocking Chair,' won an honorable mention in the John Lennon Songwriting contest. And the lead track 'Around Every Corner' was selected as a finalist in the 16th annual Billboard Songwriting Contest! He's working on his third album with his NEW BAND! Debut performances in March, 2009. Joe's folk medicine is for people of all ages and colors; big, fine guitar playing, sweet intimate vocals, and positive life-affirming songs. Makes you want to dance, love and live life to the fullest! He's been warming audiences in Northern California for over 20 years. Born in Detroit Michigan, USA, Joe sang in the church choir for eight years and took piano lessons. In high school he picked up the blues harmonica, guitar and flute, and later learned bass and percussion. Joe moved to San Francisco in 1972 and played in many bands there, beginning with the popular prog-rock band 'Window.' One of his most memorable gigs was with the Jerry Garcia Band in Golden Gate Park, to a crowd of 20,000 where Jerry told him 'Enjoy this, man. It doesn't get better than this.' Joe also toured with the seminal San Francisco industrial trio Factrix, playing throughout the United States to sold out clubs, including CBGB and Max's Kansas City. After moving to Los Angeles for a couple of years, Joe started getting more studio work, and commissions for television and film scores, including the scifi feature Radio World. After moving back North to the Valley of the Moon, Joe's first love, songwriting, became his main focus. This resulted in his first solo album 'Jump Your Heart' released in January 2005. Unplugged and understated, this rich production holds up well to repeated listening.
