3rd Time Lucky
3rd Time Lucky......Based high in the Colorado Rockies, this rootsy, country-rock trio has a natural kind of energy that's infectious. They have an appreciation for music and for their listeners that doesn't go unnoticed and it is clearly seen, they love what they do. Listening to their songs, you can't help but hear a diverse mixture of influences ranging from Buck Owens & Johnny Cash to Eric Clapton and even sounds reminiscient of Chrissy Hynde and the Pretenders. With a blend of expressive original music and fresh interpretations of some great classic rock songs, they can entertain young & old audiences alike. 3rd Time Lucky skillfully covers all the bases with guitar, bass and drums, but what makes them unique is that all three members switch off on lead vocals and harmonies, making for a fun and entertaining listening experience, you never know what you'll hear next. Mickey Sandora... Guitar & vocals....born near Philly, Mickey picked up his first guitar at 11 years old, formed a band, and started playing in clubs at the age of 15. With a wealth of experience in playing a variety of styles, Mickey's fretwork creates a unique element in this band. A firm believer, that "the day you stop learning, is the day you die" Mickey is always striving to improve his skills and constantly seeking "that sound"(as elusive as it sometimes seems) and will stop at nothing to find it. His guitar is definitely what makes him "tick". Trisha Leone...Bass & vocals.....although born in Georgia, was raised in the Colorado mountains. Holding the bottom down with solid bass lines, "nothing fancy" as she states, she also contributes her songwriting skills to the band. Known for being fairly quiet and shy, if you ask her about one of her songs she will not hesitate to share the story behing it. Oh, and one final note, she smiles, a lot! ( I think there is a song in there somewhere!) Gary Birch...drums & vocals.....even though the drums are set up toward the back of the stage, you may get fooled and think they are right up front, as Gary's outgoing and animated personality can often take center stage! Hailing from Southern Illinois, Gary give 100% when he is playing. When asked what inspired him to play drums, he answered, "my band teacher in school, who wouldn't let me play the drums, which only made we want to play them more. That fierce determination paid off and Gary adds a lot of energy and fun to the band, let alone some great rhythm! What does he like to do when not playing his drums? "skiing & hiking, of course...we live in Colorado!"
