Aritst bio: Friends and musicians coming together to conquer the world with their music. 3foldchord set the pace with just a few words and notes that join to make the first CD, 'the E.P.' The music grasps the ideas, thoughts, struggles, and faith of everyday life through the eyes of everyday people. Digging up friendships from the past, singer Heather Weidenaar, guitarist Jason Krasowski, bassist Dave Schoon, joined forces to form what is now known as 3foldchord. Growing up in the south suburbs of Chicago, the members of 3foldchord became acquainted well before the band started because of mutual friends. 'It was no big deal to start the band because each of us were just a phone call away,' explains Schoon. The E.P. is a collection of 6 songs recorded at Watchmen Productions of Valparaiso, Indiana. Being their first debut of original music, it sets out to give listeners a taste of personality and faith of each band member. 'Lord knows we've all gone through crap in our lives and this is our way of expressing fear, sadness, and joy through music,' explains singer, Heather Weidenaar. Although everyone will come to their own opinion of each selection, 3foldchord has formed a mixture of pop guitars, funk bass lines, groove oriented rhythms, and strong melodies to make good quality pop music. The band puts a lot of focus on friendships and relationships in their music. 'We feel as a band that we need to have strong friendships together.' Says Schoon, who attended high school with Weidenaar. 'We hang out a lot outside of our band functions. To them, it's more than just the music. 'We want to perform what we believe and what is in our hearts. It's so important to have a connection on stage. People feel and see that. We want our audience to be our friends not just our listeners and fans. It's all about having fun,' says Weidenaar. The bands influences vary in every way, from the Beatles to Counting Crows to Jars of Clay and even to Mozart (which would be only Heathers influence). By combining all these influences, the band definitely has a style of their own. Weidenaar expands on this; 'the cool thing about all of us is that we have different outlooks and feelings for music and life in general. When you put them all together, it builds our music and tells our side of the story.' Playing local coffeehouses, concert venues and teaming up with other bands; 3foldchord puts together a fun and energy packed show with something for every music listener. Adding to the lineup drummer Jimmy Clausing, and additional guitarist Steve Van Der Griend, the 3foldchord live onslaught is one to be reckoned with. 'We love to play live' claims Krawsowski, better known as J-Bird to the rest of the band. Their set list includes songs from 'the E.P.',other songs not released, including some covers. All in all 3foldchord is a band that is fun to listen to. The music offers thought and provokes a spirit of hope through Weidenaars fresh vocal approach, and the bands catchy hooks and melodies. Schoon adds, 'I think this release ('the E.P.') will speak for itself.'
