18 Switchbacks hails from the rocky hills of Boulder, Colorado and had it's beginnings as a rootsy, acoustic americana band but quickly morphed into something more than just another Colorado bluegrass outfit. Blending it's member's influence from brazillian, pop, folk, rock, jam, and even country, we strive to present the idea that good music is much more than just sticking to a specific style or genre but rather understanding how and where to push each song to it's limits while adding our own unique, personal stamp of thick, rich harmonies, inspired and energetic bass and drum lines and dark and gritty - yet sometimes hauntingly light and etherial - mandolin, guitar and keyboard leads. We recorded, engineered and self-produced our album in April of 2010 at Immersive studios who has also recorded albums for such artists as Big Head Todd, String Cheese Incident, Leftover Salmon and Shawn Colvin. We mastered our EP at Airshow who most recently was involved in the re-mastering of Pink Floyd's 'Dark side of the moon' as well as many other notable national artists. All tracks were recorded live over a three day period.
